Typetester – Compare fonts for the screen

This is a web-based screen font comparison tool that lets you type in some sample text and pick up to 3 different typefaces to compare side by side. Very cool for web developers or graphic designers.

101 Essential Freelancing Resources

Found this site today and checked into some of the “resources” mentioned. Most are not free but maybe useful anyway if you’re desperate enough for a solution. They are broken into categories which makes it nice to do a quick run through.
Here are some of my favorite FREE resources:
stockxchange -Totally free stock photos
ice templates - Free web templates for Dreamweaver (5 or so)
icon buffet - Selection of free (and more for purchase) icons for the web or whatever you like. Free registration to the site is required to download free stuff.

Adobe’s CS3 Launch Vid-cast

I found a link to John Mahoney ’s blog-The Digital Edge Blog-while sifting around videojug.com. One of his links is to Adobe’s CS3 launch event that was vid-cast the day of the launch. I just spent an hour watching it, and it was fantastic! (not the presentation so much-If you’ve seen one launch event you really have seen them all). Here’s a quote “The next generation of publishing in a box”. It really is. You have to see the video to believe it. Everything from Macromedia is seamlessly integrated into Adobe’s existing line up making the coolest tools anywhere on any platform. Go watch this video (and fast forward about 20 min.)

Simple software to help you get organized: 37signals

These guys make great software and all are available in free versions to get you started. They also have a book about developing web applications (Getting Real) as well as being the developers of “Ruby on Rails” (wiki page). Perhaps you’ve heard of a guy named Steve Case (most notably former AOL CEO), well he’s set up his new venture using Ruby on Rails and here’s a clip from GMA to prove it. Check out 37 signals at the link below to see all of their apps and what they do. If you want to hear from one of the 37 signal founders, you can catch him talking about Highrise on Twit’s Net-at-night podcast this past week.
